City of Salem's Preservation Projects

The City of Salem is committed to preserving the exceptional collection of historic buildings, landscapes, burial grounds, structures and objects that are under its care and management. These assets include 16 historic buildings; 9 parks, forts and historic landscapes; 5 cemeteries; and numerous structures and objects found throughout the city. The adoption of the Community Preservation Act (CPA) by residents in 2013 provides a much needed funding source for the preservation of the City's historic public assets. Grants from the Massachusetts Historical Commission, the Massachusetts Cultural Council and others have also been instrumental in funding preservation projects in Salem.
